Did you know that the emergency contraceptive pill or the “morning after pill” is available from your pharmacy without a doctors prescription. It is available free of charge to medical card holders and is also available to private patients for a fee. It is subject to certain criteria and requires a consultation with one our pharmacists.

To save you time in store why don’t you request a call back from one of our pharmacists who will go through a series of questions with you and if suitable we can have the medication ready for you to collect. You will still have to collect the medication yourself.

How does emergency contraception work?

If you think you need emergency contraception it is important to act within 5 days of unprotected intercourse. It is not a means of protection against sexually transmitted infection but is effective when regular contraception has failed or if no contraception was used.
